Egypt is rolling out a new package of financial, investment, and digital initiatives aimed at strengthening ties with its overseas citizens and making it easier for them to invest, access government services, and manage their finances remotely. Announced during the seventh Egyptians Abroad Conference, the measures include a US dollar pension program, plans for a dedicated investment fund, expanded digital payment services, and the continued digitization of government and consular services.

The Details

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates signed four cooperation protocols during the conference’s opening session to expand services available to Egyptians living overseas.

One protocol, signed with Misr Life Insurance, launched “Your Pension Tomorrow in Dollars.” This a program designed to help Egyptians abroad build retirement savings in US dollars.

Another agreement with Delta Egypt Payments’ Sahl platform will allow Egyptians abroad to pay utility bills, financial obligations, and government service fees electronically through the company’s mobile application and digital platform.

The ministry also partnered with the National Bank of Egypt and Banque Misr to launch the ‘Bank Customer Data Update.” This is an initiative under the sponsorship of the Central Bank of Egypt. This is to launch a banking data update initiative intended to simplify customer verification and improve access to banking services for Egyptians overseas.

Separately, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed a cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Education to implement programs under the presidential “Speak Arabic” initiative. This aims to strengthen Arabic language skills and reinforce Egyptian cultural identity among children of Egyptians living abroad.

During the conference, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk announced that the government plans to launch a dedicated investment fund for Egyptians abroad next year. This is in cooperation with major local and international investment banks. The fund will offer new investment opportunities for Egyptians abroad.

The Ministry of Finance is working with the Ministries of Industry and Investment and Foreign Trade to launch an integrated digital platform that will allow businesses to be established quickly and easily. The platform aims to encourage Egyptians abroad to invest in Egypt. It also seeks to benefit from investment incentives, tax and customs facilities, and opportunities across priority sectors.

Additionally, the government is expanding digital public services and making them more accessible through digitization. Furthermore, AI is being integrated into government services to simplify procedures and provide services in multiple languages.

Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reviewed the ministry’s communication channels. This includes in-person and virtual meetings, digital communication platforms, a 24-hour hotline, and crisis management mechanisms. Moreover, there are ongoing efforts to digitize consular services by reducing processing times and expanding document authentication offices. There are also preparations to launch an interactive electronic platform that represents the first phase toward fully digital consular services.
