New platform will manage QIA’s domestic portfolio of more than 40 companies and target investment across AI, manufacturing, healthcare and other priority sectors
Why You Should Care
Doha Investment creates a dedicated platform for managing Qatar Investment Authority’s domestic portfolio while giving the country a vehicle to support both established companies and emerging businesses.
The platform will focus on expanding private sector participation, strengthening local companies and bringing international capital, expertise and partnerships into Qatar’s economy.
The Details
Doha Investment’s portfolio includes more than 40 companies operating across more than 80 markets. It spans financial services, transport and logistics, telecommunications and technology, real estate, hospitality, food and agriculture.
The portfolio includes Qatar Airways Group, QNB Group, Ooredoo Group, Qatari Diar, Katara Hospitality and Hassad Food. More than 20 companies in the portfolio recorded revenues above QAR 1 billion in 2025, according to the announcement.
Alongside these established companies, Doha Investment will target new national champions in advanced technologies, manufacturing, supply chains and healthcare.
The platform will also support Qai, a national AI platform established to enable and scale the use of trusted AI across businesses and society.
Doha Investment plans to work directly with portfolio companies to support their growth and competitiveness while partnering with local and international investors to develop new businesses in priority sectors.
The Ripple
The platform is also intended to strengthen Qatar’s wider business ecosystem.
Doha Investment says it will support high-skilled job creation, more resilient local supply chains and national talent development. Expanding the number of high-value companies could also contribute to deeper capital markets and create additional opportunities for international investors.
The initiative supports Qatar’s Third National Development Strategy (NDS3), which identifies greater private sector participation as part of the country’s efforts to build a sustainable and diversified economy.
What to Watch
The focus now shifts to how Doha Investment deploys capital across its priority sectors and develops its existing portfolio.
Its activity in AI, manufacturing, healthcare and supply chains, alongside the international partnerships it builds, will provide early signals of how the new platform intends to shape Qatar’s next phase of economic growth.
