QIA Participates in US-Based SambaNova’s USD 1B Round

SambaNova raised USD 1 billion in a Series F funding round. The financing will support the AI infrastructure company’s global expansion and product development.

The round included participation from Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) alongside General Atlantic, Seligman Ventures, T. Rowe Price Associates, Capital Group, and other new and existing investors.

Why You Should Care

As enterprises race to deploy artificial intelligence at scale, demand is shifting beyond AI models toward the infrastructure that powers them.

Companies capable of delivering efficient AI computing platforms are becoming increasingly important as businesses seek lower costs, faster deployment, and higher performance. Investors are responding by backing the infrastructure providers, enabling the next phase of AI adoption.

The Details

Founded in 2017 by Rodrigo Liang, Kunle Olukotun, and Christopher Ré, SambaNova is an AI infrastructure company. It provides a full-stack platform that powers efficient AI inference for enterprises, neo-clouds, AI labs, service providers, and sovereign AI initiatives worldwide. Moreover, it delivers chips, systems, and cloud services to deploy advanced AI models with greater efficiency, lower costs, and faster time to value.

Looking ahead, with the financing, it aims to expand its global deployment capacity, and accelerate product development. Additionally, it seeks to scale its AI infrastructure for enterprise customers worldwide. The company also plans to continue investing across chips, systems, software, and full-stack AI infrastructure

For QIA, the investment builds on an existing relationship with the company after participating in SambaNova’s previous funding round in February 2026. The sovereign wealth fund continues to expand its exposure to companies developing foundational AI technologies. This is with a focus on businesses with differentiated technology, growing commercial traction, and long-term growth potential.

The Ripple

The financing underscores how investor interest is increasingly extending beyond AI applications to the infrastructure layer supporting the technology.

While much of the AI conversation has centered on foundation models and software, demand for specialized computing infrastructure continues to accelerate as enterprises adopt AI across industries. Companies building the hardware and software required to deploy AI efficiently are becoming an increasingly strategic part of the technology ecosystem.

For Gulf investors, backing infrastructure companies such as SambaNova provides exposure to one of the fastest-growing segments of the global AI value chain. As countries across the region continue investing in AI capabilities and digital infrastructure, ownership in enabling technologies offers both financial upside and strategic relevance.

What to Watch

SambaNova’s next phase will focus on translating fresh capital into larger global deployments and continued product innovation.

Its ability to expand capacity while meeting growing enterprise demand will offer a clearer indication of how the market for AI infrastructure evolves as organizations move from AI experimentation to large-scale deployment.
