The Egyptian manufacturer has opened its second production facility, broken ground on a third, and signed new regional partnerships as it looks to scale exports and strengthen Egypt’s advanced manufacturing sector.
Egyptian CNC machinery manufacturer Simplex inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in 10th of Ramadan City as part of a USD 50 million expansion. This aims to increase production capacity, localize advanced manufacturing, and boost exports to global markets.
Why You Should Care
Egypt has made industrial localization a national priority as it works to reduce import dependence and expand high-value manufacturing.
CNC machines are a core piece of industrial infrastructure, used across manufacturing sectors. Expanding domestic production seeks to help reduce reliance on imported equipment while supporting local manufacturers.
The investment also reflects confidence in Egypt’s ability to manufacture complex industrial equipment for regional and international markets.
The Details
Founded in 2013 by Ahmed Shaaban and Mohamed Mansour, Simplex is a tech startup. It specializes in assembling and manufacturing Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery
The new factory spans 40,000 square meters and represents Simplex’s second manufacturing facility. Furthermore, the new facility aims to double production capacity and improve manufacturing precision. It also seeks to accelerate delivery times and reduce reliance on external suppliers. Additionally, the new expansion aims to generate over 1,000 direct jobs and over 10,000 indirect jobs.
During the inauguration, the company also laid the foundation stone for a third factory, signaling its long-term expansion plans. Additionally, during the event, it unveiled its latest CNC machine, officially launching production under the “Proudly Made in Egypt” label.
“Our vision is to become a major player in the global CNC machinery manufacturing industry. This expansion marks a significant milestone toward that goal, empowering us to meet rising demand and strengthen our international presence,”
Mohamed Mansour, Co-founder & Chief Commercial Officer of Simplex
As part of its regional strategy, the company also signed new partnership and agency agreements in Jordan and Kuwait. This is to expand its commercial presence across Arab markets.
The Ripple
Simplex’s expansion extends beyond a single factory. Increased domestic production capacity will strengthen Egypt’s industrial supply chain by giving manufacturers greater access to locally produced CNC machinery. Thus, reducing dependence on imported equipment and components.
The company’s growing export footprint and new regional partnerships also reinforce Egypt’s ambition to position itself as a manufacturing hub serving the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
What to Watch
Simplex’s expansion reflects a broader shift toward localizing advanced manufacturing in Egypt. As production capacity increases and exports grow, companies building industrial technologies locally will play an increasingly important role in the country’s manufacturing ambitions.
Simplex’s latest investment positions the company for its next phase of growth. As the new factory ramps up production and construction begins on a third facility, the company’s ability to expand exports and deepen its presence across regional markets will be key.
