Synapse Analytics Secures USD 13M to Power AI-Driven Decisioning for Financial Institutions

Abu Dhabi-based Synapse Analytics has raised USD 13 million in a Series A round led by Partech. This brings its total funding to USD 17 million since its founding. The round also saw participation from Algebra Ventures and Silicon Badia.

The new capital will support team expansion, product development, and Synapse Analytics’ international growth. This comes as it builds AI-powered decisioning infrastructure for regulated financial institutions.

Why You Should Care

Financial institutions are increasingly adopting AI to automate risk and credit decisions, but doing so can create challenges around sensitive data, governance, and control.

Synapse Analytics is addressing this gap by allowing banks, fintechs, non-banking financial institutions, and telecommunications companies to deploy its decisioning technology within their own infrastructure. Its platform can operate on-premises, in private or public cloud environments, sovereign cloud, or fully air-gapped settings.

This allows institutions to automate decisions across areas including onboarding, credit, fraud, and anti-money laundering while retaining control over their data and decision-making policies.

The Details

Founded in 2018 by Ahmed Abaza and Galal Elbeshbishy, Synapse Analytics is an agentic decisioning platform. It allows regulated financial institutions to own and control their decisioning outright.

“Our mission is to give financial institutions the intelligence and decision infrastructure they need to make faster, more secure decisions to reduce risk, unlock growth and build stronger customer relationships,”

Synapse Analytics Co-founder and CEO Ahmed Abaza

Its platform enables credit and risk teams to build, simulate, version, and deploy policies directly. Teams can also test policy changes against historical data before putting them into operation, helping institutions introduce AI while maintaining the governance requirements of regulated financial services.

With the new funding, it plans to scale the team, accelerate product development, and expand international market reach.

Its ambition is to develop an AI operating system for finance, with intelligent agents that can work alongside credit and risk teams. This is to refine policies, monitor portfolios, and identify emerging risks and opportunities.

The Ripple

Synapse’s funding comes as financial institutions across emerging markets look to increase the use of AI while navigating stricter requirements around data governance and operational control.

For banks and other regulated institutions, infrastructure that allows AI models to operate within their own environments could become increasingly relevant as they seek to balance automation with regulatory and security requirements.

The round also adds to the growing flow of regional capital into AI infrastructure and financial technology. Additionally, Synapse is targeting markets beyond its Abu Dhabi base across the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.

What to Watch

The next phase for Synapse Analytics will be defined by how effectively it turns its decisioning infrastructure into a scalable product for financial institutions across new markets.

Its international expansion, product development, and ability to bring more AI-driven decisioning into regulated environments will be key indicators of whether Synapse can establish its platform as a broader infrastructure layer for AI-powered financial decision-making.
