Mubadala Backs UK’s Paragraf With USD 35M to Scale Graphene Chips

  • Mubadala invested USD 35M in UK-based Paragraf to scale graphene semiconductors, part of the company’s USD 55M funding round.
    Paragraf will expand production and open subsidiaries in the Middle East, China, and the US to commercialize graphene electronics.
    Mubadala also joined Welcome Tech’s USD 7.5M round to boost its AI-driven platform serving immigrant workers with essential services.

Mubadala, Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund, invested USD 35 million in UK-based Paragraf in its USD 55 million funding round. The British technology company, Paragraf, produces semiconductors made of graphene.

Up next, with the newly acquired funding, Paragraf aims to expand production of faster, more energy-efficient technologies. This to the scale required by major commercial opportunities. 

It also aims to set up subsidiaries in the Middle East, China and the US. Additionally, it has a vision to transform electronics by using graphene for quantum computing, electric vehicles, and energy storage. It also wants to use it for chemical testing, as well as helping to develop new cancer drugs.

Welcome Tech

Mubudala joined a USD 7.5 million funding round for US-based Welcome Tech. The round was led by TTV Capital, Mubadala Capital, Westbound Equity Partners, CityRock Ventures Partners, Next Legacy Partners, and BTN Ventures.

With the newly acquired capital, it aims to accelerate the development of its AI infrastructure. These include automating onboarding, personalizing multi-language service delivery, and intelligently matching members to job and benefit opportunities. Furthermore, with this it aims to enhance access, reduce cost, and deliver quality user experiences at scale. Additionally, it aims to expand its workforce engagement platform.  

Welcome Tech is a digital platform connecting immigrant workers to essential services including jobs, healthcare, and financial tools.
