Exel by Merak

Saudi-based Merak Capital launches its second cohort for its gaming accelerator Exel by Merak. It has selected 19 startups for its second cohort with projects across mobile, PC, and console.

The programme runs for 16 weeks, including a two-week virtual bootcamp followed by around 14 weeks of in-person acceleration in Riyadh. The selected startups each receive USD 300 thousand in investments. This is divided into USD 150 thousand in cash and USD 150 thousand in-kind services. These services include mentorship, legal/HR support and access to tools.

“Over the coming weeks, they’ll participate in an intensive program designed to accelerate growth, refine strategy, and connect with global mentors and investors,” posted the Exel by Meraak LinkedIn Account.

Accelerator

This is a step towards Exel’s mission to foster a pipeline of game studios and gaming technology companies in the Kingdom and regionally. The programme offers a pathway into the Saudi ecosystem at a time when the Kingdom is positioning itself as a global gaming hub.

For the second cohort, the 19 startups were chosen from a pool of 300 applicants. These startups will receive mentorship and hands-on support from industry leaders throughout the accelerator.

Bottom line: The 19 startups will join an intensive program focused on growth, strategy, and operational development. They will also gain mentorship and industry guidance from global experts throughout the accelerator.
