GAFI Launches the Technology Hub to Support Startups in Egypt

GAFI

The General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) announced the launch of the Technology Hub in the Nasr City Free Zone. The hub will be established in partnership with a specialized developer. It will serve as an integrated center aiming to help startups scale up and expand into foreign markets. It also aims to strengthen their competitiveness at both the regional and international levels.

This was announced at the final showcase of the Elevate Lab Program that GAFI participated in. This was the initiative’s final showcase of its intensive training program for entrepreneurs and startups in Egypt. 

The initiative is delivered in cooperation with Enactus Egypt, Exits MENA, and several ecosystem partners. Additionally, it is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI). 

Startups

GAFI CEO, Mr. Hossam Heiba, took part in the program’s final showcase, in which he affirmed that Egypt is experiencing an exceptional moment marked by highly promising opportunities for entrepreneurs and startups. He further emphasized the importance of strengthening the business environment to enable youth to launch their ideas. This is to enable them to transform innovation into added economic value that supports growth and development.

He also notes that GAFI, the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), and the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) are working together to provide the necessary facilitation measures for startups.  As well as, working closely to ensure that they receive the institutional support needed for sustainable growth.
