Samsung has officially launched its first trifold smartphone called the Galaxy  Z TriFold. This builds on its previous foldable tech innovation which takes phones on two hinges allowing them to transform into larger tablet sized devices.

The innovation is driven by the company’s long term experience in the foldable category. The new Galaxy Z Trifold uses an inward folding design to protect the main display. Additionally, the tech giant claims that the folding mechanism has been engineered for easy opening and closing.

The phone was unveiled at an Event in Seoul, South Korea on the 2nd of December 2025. This is several months before the rumored upcoming Apple foldable iPhone which is expected to be announced next fall.

The phone measures at 3.9mm at its thinnest point with the biggest battery that the tech company has ever had in a foldable phone. The battery has a 5,600 mAh three-cell battery system which is combined with 45 W superfast charging. The company aims to let users stream, create and work seamlessly with this new phone.

When closed, the TriFold’s outer screen offers similar dimensions to a regular smartphone measuring at 6.5 inches. However, once opened it provides a tablet-style design with a 10 inch display. When in tablet mode, each of the devices’ screens can independently run a different app.

Bottom line: Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold demonstrates the company’s continued foldable innovation, blending smartphone portability with a larger, versatile tablet-style display.
