  • Jordan’s Alefredo EdTech acquired UK tutoring platform Tutor House for USD 600K to strengthen its presence in the British education market.
  • The deal uses a share-swap structure in Alefredo Holding, integrating 30,000 teachers and 15,000 students into its digital ecosystem.
  • The buyout completes Alefredo’s end-to-end AI learning loop by integrating curriculum-native tutoring with live human support and advanced analytic.

Alefredo EdTech

Jordanian edtech startup Alefredo EdTech has finalized its USD 600,000 acquisition of the UK-based tutoring platform Tutor House. It marks a significant step for Jordan’s growing technology sector.

The transaction primarily involves shares in the Alefredo Holding Company. It also includes various performance-based incentives. This was confirmed by Ahmad Al Saif, the founder and CEO of Alefredo. The move follows the startup’s expansion into the UAE back in 2022.

Tutor House brings a massive network to the table. It features over 30,000 teachers and serves 15,000 students globally. By merging these assets, Alefredo completes what it calls an “AI learning loop.” This loop includes human support, adaptive learning, and curriculum-native tutoring.

“We are bringing together two essential parts of education: our deep library of curriculum-specific content and Tutor House’s exceptional curated network of human experts. AI will be the engine that connects them, creating a personalized and powerful platform for students across EMEA,”

Ahmad Al Saif, Founder and CEO of Alefredo EdTech

Education

The acquisition provides Alefredo with a direct line to the UK market. It can now offer digital resources to four million British students. These resources cover major international curricula like the IB Diploma, A Level, and IGCSE.

Through the acquisition, it aims to build a human-led, AI-enabled learning platform. It seeks to design it to scale across British, American, and International Baccalaureate systems. It will do so by combining Tutor House’s human-led tutoring infrastructure with Alefredo’s AI-powered curricular intelligence.

Additionally, the acquisition will enable Alefredo to extend its existing digital learning resources to more than 4 million students across the UK. Furthermore, this acquisition will leverage Alefredo’s existing strength in Middle Eastern markets. It will also leverage Tutor House’s established UK presence to scale a new model of hybrid education.

Founded in 2020, Alefredo EdTech began as a marketplace for used books. It quickly evolved into a sophisticated digital learning provider. Today, it serves over 20,000 customers across 16 different countries.

Tutor House was originally founded in 2012 by Alex Dyer. In 2022, the Dubai-based platform oktopi acquired it. Now, Alefredo takes the reins to drive further growth. This deal highlights the rising influence of MENA-based startups in the global education space. It also reflects a broader trend of Gulf and Levantine companies targeting international assets.
