Riyadh’s Transport General Authority launched a new route for autonomous passenger vehicles, connecting Hayat Mall to Riyadh Gallery. This is part of its plans to expand this service across several locations in the Kingdom. It also aims to support the integration of smart solutions in the transportation sector.

The vehicles will operate daily under direct regulatory and technical supervision, providing a safe and innovative transportation experience for users. Additionally, they will be equipped with an advanced safety and sensing system. This includes sensors, cameras, and intelligent systems capable of monitoring the road and surroundings and responding to traffic changes. It will also be equipped with control technologies that enhance driving efficiency and reduce the likelihood of human error.

Autonomous Vehicles

The launch of this route comes as part of its ongoing efforts to develop autonomous vehicle services. This is in line with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Saudi’s Vision 2030 for a smart and sustainable transport system.

This launch follows a previous phase, during which several routes were operated. The vehicles completed over 1,700 trips, transported more than 3,000 passengers, and covered a total distance exceeding 30,000 kilometers.
