Mobile Phone

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates in coordination with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, announced an extension of the exemption period granted for mobile phones for Egyptians living abroad when visiting the country, from 90 days to 120 days, effective from April 1.

This decision comes as part of efforts to develop consular services. It also aims to facilitate the entry procedures for devices for Egyptians abroad. It also seeks to continue to enhance digital services provided to citizens through the Digital Egypt Platform and the Egypt Post.

As of January 21, Egypt ended the tax exemption on personal phones imported from abroad. This exception had allowed one phone per Egyptian citizen coming from abroad to be imported without customs fees. With the end of this exemption, total taxes of up to approximately 38.5% of the price of any imported phone will be applied.
