Egypt Forms Corporation To Manufacture One Million Tons of Phosphate Annually

– The Mineral Resources Authority (MRA) of Egypt, in collaboration with East Gas Company and IMEX International, has formed a company to optimize the value of low-concentration phosphate ores, aligning with the government’s mining sector maximization goals, as articulated by Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El-Molla.

– The company intends to utilize advanced GetMoreP technology by PRYON to elevate phosphorus concentration in Egyptian phosphate raw materials beyond 37%, targeting global markets, particularly phosphoric acid and compound fertilizer manufacturers.

– Through the incorporation of GetMoreP technology, offering benefits such as reduced water usage and high-quality phosphorus pentoxide output, the project aims for energy self-sufficiency by utilizing steam and power generation from a sulphuric acid unit.

The Mineral Resources Authority (MRA) of Egypt, along with East Gas Company and IMEX International, have entered into an agreement to establish a company aimed at enhancing the value of low-concentration phosphate ores.

The initiative aligns with the government’s objective of maximizing local benefits from the mining sector, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El-Molla said.

The goal is to utilize advanced technology, specifically the GetMoreP technology developed by PRYON, to increase the concentration of phosphorus in Egyptian phosphate raw materials above 37%.

This highly concentrated phosphate ore will then be globally marketed, especially targeting manufacturers of phosphoric acid and compound fertilizers.

By employing the GetMoreP technology, which offers advantages like lower water consumption and high-quality phosphorus pentoxide production, the project plans to be energy self-sufficient by generating steam and power from a sulphuric acid unit.

The implementation of the project involves partnerships with ThyssenKrupp and Sofreco for project execution and management consultancy respectively, leveraging their expertise in the fertilizer industry. The overall project aims to produce one million tons of raw materials annually at a cost of $250 million.
