Arab Contractors
What happened? The Egyptian Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny in his current visit to China met with the Chinese Minister of Housing Mr Ni Hong.
In the meeting, the Egyptian minister proposed that the China State Construction Engineering corporation (CSCEC) enter into a partnership with one of Egypt’s largest contracting companies, The Arab Contractors. This is part of a plan to implement various projects across Africa, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Housing.
Why does this matter? Minister Ni Hong indicated that the alliance with the Arab Contractors could serve as a model for future cooperation. Furthermore, the success of the model could be expanded into partnerships between other companies between the two countries.
The Chinese minister also indicated that CSCEC has been instructed to provide everything necessary for the success of this alliance.Ultimately, this indicates a possible fruitful future model.

Memorandum of Understanding At the conclusion of the meeting, the two ministers agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding between the ministries. This memorandum covers housing, utilities, urban development, building materials industries, managing, operating, and maintaining business centers. Furthermore, this is to mutually benefit from the capabilities of both Chinese and Egyptian companies in all these fields.CSCEC Chairman, Zheng Xuexuan, expressed his agreement for this alliance with the Arab Contractors to execute projects inside and outside Egypt. He also added that CSCEC recently established two factories in Egypt with plans to develop them further.
