Flat6Labs

What happened? Flat6Labs, a MENA venture capital firm, and Tamwilcom signed a partnership, aiming to accelerate the growth of startups in Morocco.

“This partnership extends our institution’s efforts to support innovative Moroccan enterprises,” said Hicham Zanati Serghini, General Manager of Tamwilcom.

The initiative aims to focus on startups operating in promising sectors focusing on AgriTech, FinTech, Industry, GreenTech, digital health, AI, big data, and other fields. 

Who are they? Flat6Labs is a MENA seed and early stage venture capital firm. Meanwhile, Tamwilcom is a Moroccan credit institution aiming to help private initiatives by encouraging the creation, development and modernization of businesses.

Flat6Lab’s Role Flat6Labs’ role is to design and implement a support program that includes technical and financial mentorship. The goal is to prepare startups to secure investments to enable them to scale both locally and globally. 

Hicham Zanati Serghani, General manager of Tamwilcom explained that Flat6Labs experience in startup acceleration will add value. Specifically in fundraising, and business expansion. 

Morocco

What is the context? This partnership comes after an agreement signed with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in December 2023. This agreement had set out a plan to support and accelerate the growth of Moroccan startups through a comprehensive program.

Why does this matter? The partnership supports the  stakeholder’s commitment to fostering innovation in the Moroccan entrepreneurial ecosystem. Furthermore,the goal is to foster a capability of keeping pace with digital transformation and meeting the country’s development aspirations. 

David Tinel, IFC’s regional representative for the Maghreb region, explained that this partnership aims to enhance Morocco’s investment environment. This is by facilitating access to early-stage financing.
