  • Domty is exploring a Saudi factory as part of its plan to grow in the Gulf, tapping booming food industry demand.

  • Denmark’s Arla Foods remains interested in Domty, with a new offer expected once the bakery business is separated.

Domty

Egypt’s Domty is turning up the heat on its regional growth plans. The food producer is considering establishing a new factory in Saudi Arabia to strengthen its Gulf footprint, CEO Mohamed El Damaty told Asharq Business.

Established in 1990, the Arabian Food Industries Company (Domty) is a food and beverage company. It  manufactures a range of white and processed cheeses as well as juice products. In addition, it recently released a bakery product line.

Saudi Arabia is one of the most attractive growth markets for food producers. This is because demand is rising fast as the population expands and visitor numbers climb. Moreover, food manufacturing already makes up 10% of Saudi’s industrial sector. It is projected to reach SAR 247 billion by 2030, up from SAR 166.1 billion in 2024.

Domty is also in the middle of plans to list its bakery business which is currently being carved out from the parent company. It plans to list on the Egyptian Exchange in Q1 2026, once the split is finalized at year-end.

CEO El Damaty adds that Danish dairy giant, Arla Foods, owner of the Lurpak brand remains interested in acquiring Domty. It had previously offered in October 2024, however talks stalled in April after Domty announced its decision to separate its bakery division into a standalone entity. Furthermore, this led to Arla Foods deciding it could not complete due diligence. However, after the separation is complete there is an opportunity for talks to reopen.
