Hedera Africa Hackathon

The Orange Digital Center (ODC) network in Africa and the Middle East, partnered with the Hedera Africa Hackathon. The hackathon is organized by The Hashgraph Association (THA) and Exponential Science, two non-profit organizations with a focus on advancing decentralized technologies and innovation . Additionally, it is operated by Dar Blockchain, Pan-African hub of reference in Web3. 

Together, these partners aim to foster the adoption of decentralized technologies, education, and innovation. This is through the Hedera Africa Hackathon, a continent-wide competition designed to develop and reward promising blockchain solutions, with prizes worth over one million dollars.

At the centre of this partnership, they will deploy a certifying training program in Hedera technology within Orange Digital Centers (ODC). Moreover, this will take place in 16 countries in the Middle East and Africa.

This training will be accessible online aiming  to equip young people, professionals, and project leaders with solid skills in a fast-growing field. These skills, including blockchain and Web3, will equip participants for success in the Hedera Africa Hackathon.

Hackathon

The highlight of this partnership is the ‘Hedera Africa Hackathon’ co-organized with the Exponential Science Foundation launched on August 1, 2025. The Hackathon is a Pan-African competition for the development of blockchain solutions with a prize of more than USD 1 million. 

Moreover, this hybrid event will mobilize more than 10,000 participants in 16 countries. It will aim to create impact solutions based on Hedera technology. The hackathon will take place online and in person through the network of Orange Digital Centers. The physical spaces offer participants access to technical infrastructure, personalized mentoring, and strategic networking. Furthermore, the most promising projects will receive an endowment of more than USD 1 million.
