India’s Khetika Raises USD 18M to Expand Clean-Label Foods Into MENA

What happened? Mumbai-based healthy food startup, Khetika, raised USD 18 million in a funding round. The round was led by Narotam Sekhsaria Family Office and Anicut Capital. It also saw participation from Incofin India Progress Fund, Rajasthan Gum Pvt. Ltd. and Shree Ram India Gums Ltd.

What is next? With the newly acquired capital, the startup aims to expand geographically  to the Middle East, Europe and the US. It also aims to further build its brand and introduce new clean-label food products. Additionally, it aims to set up more manufacturing facilities.

“We’ll also be entering international markets, targeting regions like Europe, the Middle East and the US. The international market’s demand for Indian products is also increasing, but at the same time, these products need to meet very high quality standards, ” said Dr. Prithwi Singh, CEO and Co-Founder of Khetika

Healthy Food 

Who are they? Founded in 2017 by Dr. Prithwi Singh, Darshan Krishnamurthy, and Raghuveer Allada, Khetika is a healthy Indian food brand. It operates in the staples category offering a wide range of preservative free food products. This includes  batters, spices, chutneys, millet-based staples, makhana, dry fruits and rice. 

According to the founders, the startup sources directly from farmers in 14 states across India. This includes Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar. Additionally, it has four manufacturing facilities in total.

The startup offers its products across e-commerce and quick commerce platforms. This is alongside its own distribution network, SuperZop which supplies products to traditional kiraana stores.
