Thndr
On the 19th January 2025, WAYA Media attended Thndr’s media roundtable, where it outlined its plans for 2026.
A major focus for Thndr is improving gold investment options. Traditional methods, such as purchasing gold bars and coins, remain costly and inefficient. The company is designing alternatives that are simpler, more affordable, and directly investable. Thndr plans to apply for a dedicated gold investment license in early 2026 to make gold investments more accessible to individual investors.
Thndr’s impact is also visible at the market level. In 2025, women represented 12% of investors in the Egyptian Exchange, up from around 3% before the platform launched. The increase reflects broader shifts in access, awareness, and financial education, particularly as more first-time investors entered the market.
Company initiatives, such as the “Mind the Gap” campaign, focus on financial independence and education to change perceptions and expand female engagement. The company is also working to reach audiences in governorates outside Cairo and Alexandria, aiming to move populations beyond traditional savings methods.
Looking Ahead
Diversification is a key principle in investing, helping manage risk and build wealth across different market conditions. Thndr’s founder emphasized its importance, noting that spreading investments across asset classes can support more resilient portfolios. The platform aims to provide access to a variety of options, including commodities, savings products, real estate, and gold, each offering different risk-return profiles. It is also exploring silver and derivatives to further broaden the investment tools available to users.
Looking beyond Egypt, Thndr has already expanded to the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX). The company plans to enter the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) and the Dubai Financial Market (DFM), with a long-term vision of uniting Arab financial markets on a single platform. This would allow investors across the region to access multiple markets seamlessly, supporting economic growth.
For Thndr, increasing awareness, enabling diverse investment, and boosting women’s participation remain key strategies to strengthen financial markets and empower individuals.
