Arabic-speech intelligence company Intella raised USD 12.5 million in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Prosus, with participation from 500 Global, Wa’ed Ventures, Hala Ventures, Idrisi Ventures and HearstLab.

Up next, it aims to accelerate its mission to power a digital AI workforce across the Arabic-speaking world. Furthermore, with this new funding, it aims to support R&D, product expansion, and regional hiring. Thus, it will use the funding to strengthen its market positions and expand its technological abilities.

Arabic AI Models

Founded in 2021 by CEO Nour Taher and CTO Omar Mansour, Intella is an Arabic speech intelligence company. It specializes in building Arabic-first AI models tailored to the needs of enterprises in the MENA region. Furthermore, it offers enterprise-grade transcription, analytics, and AI-powered customer engagement tools tailored to more than 25 dialects.

Recently, Intella launched  Ziila, its Arabic-born digital human, in partnership with Jumia, Africa’s e-commerce platform. In this, it is powering a new voice-ordering feature for Jumia customers that navigates complex dialects.

Furthermore, it plans to use the fresh capital to expand across three areas. First, it will strengthen enterprise capabilities by launching Ziila, its conversational AI agent, alongside the intellaCX analytics tool. Together, these products aim to give enterprises a full suite for analyzing conversations and building voice-based customer experiences. Second, it aims to accelerate its MENA expansion. This is through expanding its commercial teams in Egypt and Saudi Arabia to meet growing demand from finance, telecom, and government clients. Finally, Intella will continue investing in research and development to improve dialectal accuracy and understanding,
