ITIDA
What happened? The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has launched an enhanced edition of its Summer Internship Program for university Students. This is in collaboration with the National Telecommunications Institute (NTI) and Systel, the official sales and services distributor for Motorola Solutions in Egypt.
This is part of Egypt’s push to upskill its young talent and prepare them for careers in ICT and digital arts.
What is the purpose? The program aims to train over 10,000 undergraduate students. This includes students from faculties of engineering, computer science, business information systems, media, fine and applied arts, and art education.
Why does this matter? With more than 760 thousand university graduates annually., Egypt boasts one of the most dynamic talent pools in the region. These graduates span 50 thousand ICT graduates, 171 thousand in finance accounting and 28% in stem field
Led by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) this program seeks to place the youth at the heart of its digital transformation strategy. Moreover, through its many targeted programs, Egypt seeks to train over half a million professionals by 2025. This is with a focus on high demand sectors like AI, cloud computing and cybersecurity.
Internship
What does the program entail? Each training path in the program spans 120 hours including 90 hours of specialized technical training. In addition to 30 hours of workplace readiness training, soft skills and freelancing fundamentals
The program will feature eight specialized tracks including:
- Cybersecurity
- Software Development
- UI/UX Design
- Data Analytics
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)
- Cloud Computing
- Systems Administration
- Electronics
- Digital Arts
- Digital Marketing
The tracks’ design is tailored to students in their first, second or third academic year. Additionally, the program offers either online or in-person completion through NTI campuses and Digital Egypt Innovation Hubs, Creativa centers, across various governorates.
Students in the program will benefit from up to 70% discounts on international certification exams offered through NTI. This aims to enable them to gain industry-recognized credentials that boost employability in global markets.
