South Korea’s AI semiconductor startup has announced that it will establish an artificial intelligence (AI) arm in Saudi Arabia. This marks a milestone in its Middle East expansion strategy. Moreover, this follows Rebellions securing USD 14.4 million investment from Aramco’s venture capital arm, Wa’ed Ventures.

Founded in 2022, Rebellions is an AI chip startup providing AI accelerators for data centers. It develops 5nm accelerators to deploy to ATOM cards, powering commercial AI services for telecom operators. Moreover, in 2024, it developed an AI system-on-chip designed to support large language models.

Its new office in Riyadh will serve as an operations hub to ensure a stable supply of chips tailored to Saudi’s Aramco. Furthermore, it will accelerate the supply of its neural processing unit (NPU) products to Aramco’s AI data center.

“The establishment of a Saudi unit will be the starting point for our vision to keep up with rising demand for sovereign AI in the region,” Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Park Sung-hyun said.
