What happened? Orange launched the 15th edition of its Orange Social Venture Prize (OSVP) in 2025.
Since 2011, Orange has welcomed startups from 17 countries across Africa and the Middle East. It focuses on business propositions that have a positive social and environmental impact.
What does the competition consist of? The first phase consists of national competitions in each of their local Orange African and Middle Eastern countries. Each country then chooses its three most promising initiatives to qualify them for the International Grand Prix. Additionally, countries can also submit up to three women entrepreneurs for the International Women’s Prize
In the international phase, finalists will be evaluated by a jury of representatives from the African tech world. These jurors will select three overall winners of the International Grand Prix as well the winner of the International Women’s Prize.
Prize
Who is eligible? Participants must be at least 21 years old. They must also be from one of the 17 countries or have a project established in one of these countries. In addition, they must present an entrepreneurial project with social or environmental impact using new technologies.
The 17 countries are: Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, CAR, DRC, Egypt, Guinea Conakry, Jordan, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Tunisia.
What is the prize? There are three winners for the International Grand Prix, the first prize is EUR 25,000, the second prize is EUR 15,000, and the third prize is EUR 10,000. Meanwhile, the international women’s prize is valued at EUR 20,000 and also consists of 6 to 9 months of business and technical support.
OSVP winners will also receive financial support and coaching from the Orange Digital Center to develop their business internationally.
