Poland’s Hynfra to Build USD 1.6B Green Ammonia Plant in Egypt

– Hynfra plans to build one of five green ammonia plants in Egypt, with a production capacity of 100,000 tons annually in phase one, targeting Middle Eastern and European markets.

– The plant will use solar and wind energy, with the potential to increase production to one million tons.

-The initial investment is USD 1.6 billion, with plans to grow to USD 10.6 billion. The EU aims to import 6 million tons of green hydrogen and 4 million tons of green ammonia by 2030.

Poland’s Hynfra is moving forward with plans to build one of five green ammonia plants in Egypt. This facility, which will cater to markets in both the Middle East and Europe, marks a significant step in the company’s expansion into sustainable energy production.

Phase One: 100,000 Tons Per Year Capacity

The first phase of the plant will have a production capacity of 100,000 tons per annum, with completion targeted for 2030. The plant will depend entirely on renewable energy sources, with a focus on solar and wind power, to align with the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions worldwide.

Also, Hynfra envisions scaling up the plant’s capacity to one million tons per year in future phases. The development will also include state-of-the-art facilities for storage, water treatment, and electrolysis, crucial for the efficient production of green ammonia.

Hynfra Long-Term Growth

Meanwhile, the initial cost of the project is to be USD 1.6 billion, with total investments potentially growing to USD 10.6 billion if production targets are met.

Furthermore, this expansion is part of a broader trend to meet the European Union’s ambitious goals, which include importing six million tons of green hydrogen and four million tons of green ammonia by 2030.
