According to Asharq Al-Awsat’s sources, negotiations for the deal have been ongoing for about a year. It is further clarified that only minor details remain before Prince Alwaleed acquires 100% ownership of the club.
It is reported that the deal is valued at USD 2 billion (SAR 7.5B). This would set a new unprecedented benchmark for the Saudi sports sector. Al-Hilal is one of the highest-profile football clubs in the Kingdom, making this deal a significant milestone for private investment in Saudi sports.

Meanwhile, other major Saudi clubs remain in different stages of investment discussions. Al-Ittihad, owned by the Public Investment Fund, is not close to divesting.Negotiations are ongoing with several investors, including Abdullah Saleh Kamel and his brother Mohi. The process could take more than three months to complete. Al-Nassr and Al-Ahli face similar timelines for potential ownership changes.
For clubs like Al-Shabab and Al-Ettifaq, offers have not reached an advanced stage. It is estimated that the process for these clubs could extend into the end of next year.
