Qatar Investment Authority Joins USD 20B xAI Funding Round

  • xAI raised USD 20B in a Series E round, with participation from Qatar Investment Authority and the UAE’s MGX.

xAI

xAI raised USD 20 billion in a Series E funding round, exceeding its original target of USD 15 billion. The round saw participation from Valor Equity Partners, Stepstone Group, Fidelity Management & Research Company, and Baron Capital Group. It is worth noting that from the Middle East, the round saw participation from the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and the UAE’s MGX.  Additionally, the round also saw participation from NVIDIA and Cisco Investments. These giants aim to support xAI in scaling its compute infrastructure and building out large GPU clusters. 

Looking forward, the AI startup aims to continue training Grok 5. It also aims to focus on launching innovative new consumer and enterprise products that leverage Grok, Colossus, and 𝕏. Furthermore, with these products, it seeks to transform how users live, work, and play.

Additionally, it seeks to accelerate its infrastructure buildout and enable the rapid development and deployment of transformative AI products. It also aims to widen the reach of its AI products and foster research to advance xAI’s core mission. 

Artificial Intelligence 

These plans aim to build on the initiatives that xAI led in 2025, which include:

  • Infrastructure: Colossus I and II data centers scaled xAI’s compute capacity to over one million H100-equivalent GPUs.
  • Models: Grok 4 advanced reasoning and agent capabilities through large-scale reinforcement learning.
  • Voice: Grok Voice launched real-time, multilingual voice interactions across apps and vehicles.
  • Users: xAI reports about 600 million monthly active users across 𝕏 and Grok.
  • Multimodal: Grok Imagine added image and video generation and editing tools.

Platform: Grok was further integrated into 𝕏 for real-time information use.
