Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) invested in US-based AI safety and research company, Anthropic. It joined Anthropics’s USD 13 billion series F founding round led by ICONIQ. Additionally, the round was co-led by Fidelity Management & Research Company and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
“From Fortune 500 companies to AI-native startups, our customers rely on Anthropic’s frontier models and platform products for their most important, mission-critical work,” said Krishna Rao, Chief Financial Officer of Anthropic.
The round also witnessed participation from Altimeter, Baillie Gifford, BlackRock, Blackstone, Coatue, D1 Capital, General Atlantic, and General Catalyst. In addition to,, GIC, Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives, Insight Partners, Jane Street, and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. It also saw participation from T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc. And T. Rowe Price Investment Management, Inc., TPG, WCM Investment Management, and XN.

Founded in 2021, Anthropic is an AI safety and research company aiming to build reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. Its research interests span multiple areas including natural language, human feedback, scaling laws, reinforcement learning, code generation, and interpretability. Since then, it has released its first product Claude, an AI assistant that aims to tackle any tasks at any scale.
Up next, with this new funding the AI company aims to expand its capacity to meet growing enterprise demand. It also seeks to deepen the company’s safety research, and support international expansion. This is as it aims to continue building reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. Additionally, it aims to strengthen its position as an intelligence platform of choice for enterprises, developers, and power users.
