Saudi’s Calo Raises USD 39M to Scale to AI-Powered Meal Platform
  • Calo secured an additional USD 39M in Series B funding, bringing its total to USD 64M and surpassing its initial target.

What happened? Saudi-based foodtech, Calo, raised USD 39 million in a Series B funding extension round. This brings its total Series B funding to USD 64 million which exceeds its initial target of USD 50 million. 

The extension round was led by AlJazira Capital with participation from Nuwa Capital, STV, Khwarizimi Ventures, Al Faisaliah Group, and Oraseya Capital

What is next? With the newly acquired funding, the startup aims to support its global growth, product expansion, and the integration of newly acquired business.

In addition, it is piloting Calo Black, an AI-powered private chef experience that uses large language models (LLMs). This is to understand customer preferences through conversations and generate personalized daily menus.

The company also plans to expand its product portfolio with macro personalized meals for athletes. As well as premium chef picks and an expanded range of clean eating  options.

Personalized Meals

Who are they? Founded in 2019 by Ahmed Al Ravi and Moayed Almoayed, Calo is a personalized meal subscription platform. Moreover, it offers personalized meals tailored to individual health goals and preferences. 

Calo seeks to embed AI across user interactions and operational workflows. This is with the goal of improving efficiency, scaling personalization, and unlocking new formats for customer experience.It recently acquired two UK-based meal subscription brands, Fresh Fitness Food and Detox Kitchen. Now, both of these businesses are integrated into the startups; operations as part of its plan to scale internationally.
