Sparklo, a global cleantech company, has reached an impressive milestone in its mission to drive sustainability. Since its launch last year, the company has deployed more than 300 reverse vending machines (RVMs), known as Sparklomats, across the MENA region.

These machines are now collecting over 200,000 bottles and cans daily. The Sparklomats collected a total of 50 million bottles in the MENA region. This marks a 1000% year-on-year growth in recycling efforts.

Sparklo’s success stems from its strategic partnerships with key private and public sector entities. For example, ADNOC, Lulu, Carrefour, Dubai Municipality, and the Environmental Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD).

The company also plays an active role in the “Mission to Zero” program, a waste reduction initiative led by EAD. Sparklo’s unique approach motivates people to adopt eco-friendly behaviors by offering rewards for recycling. Thus, contributing to the creation of a sustainable habit among consumers.

Reward-Based Recycling Incentives

Sparklo sets itself apart by focusing on positive reinforcement rather than punitive measures like deposit fees. Sparklo’s distinguishes itself offering rewards consumers can redeem for future purchases.

As part of this strategy, Sparklo recently partnered with Yango, offering discounts on taxi rides for bottle deposits. This instant gratification approach has proven highly effective in maintaining consumer engagement.

Maxim Kaplevich, founder and CEO of Sparklo, highlighted the company’s mission: “To address global environmental challenges related to plastic and aluminum waste, we need sustainable technologies that bridge the gap between consumers and recycling facilities.” Sparklo’s growing network continues to expand as the company develops partnerships aimed at enhancing waste collection infrastructure.

Sparklo’s Global Expansion Plans

While Sparklo’s primary focus remains the MENA region, the company has ambitious plans for global expansion. Its operations already extend to key markets in Asia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), including countries like India, Thailand, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, and Georgia. Sparklo’s presence in these regions aims to foster sustainability on a global scale.

Sparklo’s rapid growth and innovative approach to recycling align with global trends toward sustainability and the circular economy. By leveraging AI-driven technology and offering consumer rewards, the company is disrupting traditional recycling methods and creating new benchmarks in waste management.

As governments in the UAE and beyond continue to promote climate action and sustainability, Sparklo’s model integrates seamlessly with these policies, positioning the company as a leader in the global cleantech space. With its expansion plans and continuous innovation, Sparklo is set to reshape the recycling landscape and contribute to global environmental goals.
