Tagaddod Raises USD 26M From Arab Energy Fund to Turn Cooking Oil into Biofuel

Tagaddod, a platform for Biofuel Feedstacks, raised USD 26.3 million in Series A equity round led by The Arab Energy Fund (TAEF). The round also saw participation from FMO, VKAV, and A15.

Biofuel

Founded in 2013 in Egypt,Tagaddod is a tech-powered renewable feedstocks platform operating across Africa, Asia, and Europe. It is a cross-border tech-powered company in the collection, aggregation, and traceability of Biofuel Feedstocks. It specializes in Used Cooking Oil (UCO) collection and traceability.

“The Arab Energy Fund’s sector expertise, regional reach, and shared commitment to sustainable energy will be instrumental in scaling our impact and accelerating our growth,”  said Nour El-Assal, Co-Founder and CEO of Tagaddod.

With the funding, Tagaddod aims to further enable the growing production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and Renewable Diesel (RD). It also aims to accelerate its regional expansion across existing and new markets in Africa, Asia, and Europe. Additionally, it aims to enhance its technology stack, including AI-powered logistics optimisation, predictive analytics, and automated traceability systems. It also seeks to increase operational capacity, building infrastructure and partnerships to support larger volumes of certified, export-grade renewable feedstocks. Furthermore, it aims to lay the foundations for long-term leadership in the global SAF and biofuels ecosystem. 

Looking ahead, it aims to continue to develop digital tools that increase traceability. Additionally, it seeks to ensure compliance with international sustainability certifications, and bring visibility and efficiency to traditionally informal supply chains.
