What happened? UAE-based restaurant payments startup, Qlub, raised USD 30 million in a new funding round. The round was co-led by Shorooq and Cherry Ventures, with participation e&, Mubadala Investments, and Legend Capital.

Who are they? Founded in 2021 by Eyad Alkassar and Mahmoud Fouz, Qlub is a fintech company aiming to transform the dining experience through its contactless payment solutions. It enables diners to scan a QR code, view the menu, place orders, and pay seamlessly through their phones. Furthermore, it aims to enhance operational efficiency through eliminating the need for physical menus and traditional payment methods. 

The company currently operates across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Korea. Additionally, its clients include restaurant groups like Paul, Wagamama, Sushi Samba, and La Petite Maison.

What is next? With the newly secured capital, Qlub aims to expand its operations in existing markets and enter new geographies. It also plans to invest in advanced analytics tools to give restaurants deeper insights into customer behavior and preferences.

It also aims to accelerate its global expansion, enhance its product offerings, and further integrate its solutions into the hospitality sector. In addition, it seeks to strengthen partnership within hospitality and tech to drive innovation and adoption of contactless payment solutions.
