  • Egypt’s budget car market surges as prices drop between EGP 750,000–900,000, with some models falling over EGP 350,000.
  • High demand for economic models drives dealers to add 5–7% “overprice” for limited-supply cars like Jetour and Soueast.
  • Top budget models seeing 20–30% price cuts include Nissan Sunny, Chevrolet New Optra, Chery Arrizo 5, Geely Emgrand, Renault Logan, and Hyundai Accent RB.

Budget Car Market

Due to a series of drops in prices in the Egyptian car market over the past six months, there has been a boost of demand for budget car models priced between EGP 750,000 to EGP 900,00.  Even more so, the prices of some of these models have dropped by more than EGP 350,000.

Osama Aboul-Magd, Head of the Egyptian Automotive Dealers Association and Deputy Head of the Cars Division at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, told Alarabiya Business, that car demand has risen significantly in recent months but does not match the large declines in prices across all models. He also adds that budget car models receive the highest demand due to their affordability to a wide segment of customers.

Decline in Prices

According to Alarabiya, this had led some car dealers to add an ‘overprice’ of 5-7% on certain models such as Jetour and Soueast. This overprice refers to the added amount the customer pays on top of the official car price. Furthermore, some dealers or distributors impose this to provide the requested model immediately or guarantee access amid limited supply.

The list of economic cars that have seen significant price declines ranging from 20% to 30% includes several models. This includes Nissan Sunny, Chevrolet New Optra, Chery Arrizo 5, Geely Emgrand, Renault Logan, and Hyundai Accent RB. Additionally, it also includes some Chinese models like JETOUR X70, BYD U5, and Soueast DX3.
