The EthereumPoW (ETHW) team is launching its mainnet hardfork after the highly-anticipated Ethereum Merge takes place September 15th.

“ETHW mainnet will happen within 24 hours after the Merge. The exact time will be announced 1 hour before launch with a countdown timer,” the team tweeted.

The final code, binaries, config files, nodes info, RPC, and explorer will be made public when the counter timer’s up.

The mainnet will begin after the Merge block plus 2,048 empty blocks, providing padding to ensure that the chainID, a unique identifier to distinguish among blockchains, transitions to proof-of-stake, according to the EthereumPoW team.

The first block on ETHW to run any transactions will be the Merge block + 2049. The 1559 multi-sig wallet will receive block rewards for the empty blocks. For that to happen, the hash rate of the initial mining difficulty will not be less than 15 TH/s or less than 220T.

Story Update [20 September, 2022]: The ETHW Bridge is now live.
