  • Meta launched a standalone Meta AI app to increase usage beyond its platforms and compete with other major AI players.
  • Initially released in 2023, Meta AI integrates Llama 4 for advanced reasoning, multilingual support, and user-specific contextual responses.
  • The app mirrors rivals like OpenAI and Google, aiming to elevate Meta’s presence in the rapidly evolving AI assistant space.

Meta AI

What happened? Meta launched a separate app for its Meta AI assistant. This comes with the goal of boosting their AI assistant’s usage apart from being available on their platforms.

Meta AI had previously launched in September 2023 as an integrated virtual assistant that uses large language models to perform tasks.

Additionally, it seems as though this is its move to strengthen META’s position in the competitive AI landscape. The app is similar to those offered by the competitors such as OpenAI and Google.

How will the AI work? The app will be powered by Llama 4, Meta’s largest language model. Furthermore, it is designed to rival the latest AI models from OpenAI, Google, and Deepseek. It claims that it will come with improved reasoning, multilingual capabilities and efficiency.

The app will provide personalized responses based on context and information related to the user’s Facebook and Instagram accounts. It will also integrate with Meta’s AI glasses.

Voice Feature

What’s next? Meta will soon start testing paid subscriptions for the AI chatbot’s advanced version in the second quarter of 2025.

The company will host its first ever AI developer event dubbed LlamaCon which will center around its Llama family of AI models

What’s different? The app will include a discover feed which will serve as a social feed to share and explore how others are using AI.

Voice Feature It will also include voice features similar to its competitors. This will allow for multitasking on the user’s device whilst continuing the interaction.

It is important to note that the company recently introduced this voice feature to its Meta AI on WhatsApp.
