The round was led by UAE-based Shorooq Partners, with contributions from Indus Valley Capital and several angel investors. This capital will facilitate the launch of Zyp’s electric smart mobility technologies in Lahore, Pakistan.
With this investment, Zyp plans to establish over 60 battery swap stations and deploy 1,000 of its Zyp Utility Motorcycles (ZUM 2000) within the next year. These motorcycles are equipped with fleet management software, including accident alerts, anti-theft features, and location tracking.
Founded in 2022 by Hassan Khan and Imran Afzal, Zyp Technologies has an assembly line capable of producing up to 12,000 electric motorcycles annually. The company also plans to expand its operations to multiple Gulf nations, including the United Arab Emirates, by 2025.
Last year, Shorooq Partners, along with Peak XV Partners from India and Southeast Asia, led a $10 million Series A funding round for Singapore’s digital currency fintech Triple-A, according to IBS Intelligence.
Shorooq Partners, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, invests across the Middle East, North Africa, and Pakistan (MENAP) regions. Their portfolio includes investments in UAE’s Pure Harvest Smart Farms, Nym Card, Saudi Arabia’s Nuqtah, fintech Lean, and UAE’s 3D printing startup Immensa, among others.
