These are the most popular apps in the Middle East and North Africa per country, according to market intelligence firm SimilarWeb. The list includes the top free apps on the Google Play Store as of November 1, 2020.
These popular apps vary from online shopping to translation to communication. They also range significantly in popularity, from around 100,000 total global downloads to well over 500 million, according to Google.
By far the most popular app across the region is Fordeal – shop everything for you, which is the top app in five countries. Fordeal is a Chinese online shopping platform with large userbases in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Jordan and Kuwait.
Following Fordeal, two translations apps, Blast Translation and Translatley Pro, have reached the #1 spot in three countries.
In addition, to no one’s surprise, communication apps Telegram and ZOOM are the most popular apps in Egypt and Lebanon respectively.
