  • Yashaa Global Capital recently received financial services permission to establish a global sports venture capital fund.
  • The fund aims to invest in sports tech, esports, fitness, and related industries.
  • With a $75 million target fund size, Yashaa Global Capital is planning to become a main player in sports-focused venture funding.

Yashaa Global Capital, a venture capital fund specializing in the sports industry, received a Financial Services Permission (FSP). This permission came from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM).

This approval officially establishes the fund within ADGM and prepares it to be an investment player in the sports ecosystem.

The Abu Dhabi Global Market has a regulatory environment that provides a solid foundation for venture capital firms. It is now becoming an attractive location for funds like Yashaa Global Capital.

High-profile athletes and seasoned investors led this fund, including cricketers Shikhar Dhawan and AB de Villiers. Mohammed Sirajuddin, Arif Padaria, and Dr. Victor Tay were also part of this fund.

Investment Strategy

This mix of sports and financial expertise provides strategic insights and networking advantages for portfolio companies.

The targeted corpus is $75 million, $25 million of which is structured as a greenshoe option. The fund will invest in various industries within the sports ecosystem, including SportsTech, esports, media technology, and professional sports leagues.

The Asian sports investment market has seen limited venture capital activity compared to the U.S. and Europe. Yashaa Global Capital wants to bridge this gap by attracting global investors and supporting new sports and gaming startups.

Sports Entrepreneurship

This new milestone can contribute to the evolving landscape of sports entrepreneurship, and enhance the business of sports investments.

“Business of Sports is at a transformative stage, becoming increasingly globalized, institutionalized, and technology-driven”

Mohammed Sirajuddin, General Partner at Yashaa Global Capital.

The team at Yashaa has proven investment experience to bridge the gap in the Asian market. The goal is to deliver value to founders, investors, and the broader ecosystem.
