In addition to running ads in the App Store’s search tab and search results, Apple is adding two new ad placements in the App Store’s Today tab and on the individual app pages.

In the Today Tab, ads will appear in the larger card format used by other content in that tab with a small box spelling “Ad”, and in the individual app pages, ads will appear under the “You Might Also Like” header highlighted in blue.

Although buyers won’t be able to target specific applications for these ads, they will be relevant to the app under which they are shown.

“Apple Search Ads provides opportunities for developers of all sizes to grow their business,” Apple said in a statement. “Like our other advertising offerings, these new ad placements are built upon the same foundation—they will only contain content from apps’ approved App Store product pages, and will adhere to the same rigorous privacy standards.”

Apple first started showing App Store search results ads back in 2016, and recently began asking users for their permission to enable Personalized Ads in September, 2021.
