Basma has raised $1.2 million in a seed round led by B&Y Venture Partners and Cedar Mundi Ventures in participation with iSME and others.

Basma is a digital dental startup based in Beirut. It aims to provide its clients with affordable dental care. The funding will allow the startup to develop its tech. Additionally, Basma will be expanding in the Middle East. Cherif Massoud, Founder and CEO of Basma told WAYA, “We are launching now in Riyadh, KSA and will be available for purchase in the MENA region.”

Through Basma, customers can order an impression kit. The results are then sent to doctors who create individualized invisible aligners. The whole process is done remotely. It is significantly cheaper than going to the dentist.

According to Massoud, “7 out of 10 people in the Arab world can benefit from straighter teeth. But we think that everyone deserves to smile confidently. Aligners are the best alternative to braces, by changing the distribution channel and putting everything online, Basma cuts the treatment cost by up to 65%. Patients are constantly connected to doctors on our advanced telemedicine platform and are able to receive the treatment kit that will have a series of clear custom fitted aligners, straight to their homes.”

“We see much appetite for HealthTech and cosmetics services in the Middle East, both from consumers and professionals.”
