FreshSource, the region’s first B2B online platform for fresh fruit and vegetables, have announced a collaboration with Otlob to become their first fresh produce supplier.
The announcement, via FreshSource’s press release, sees the company expanding by adding a B2C element to their model, through its on ground partner, Otlob, a Delivery Hero company.
“We are excited that through this partnership, we will be able to deliver our ethically sourced produce conveniently to people’s homes at affordable prices and empower more farmers along our journey.”
Omar Emara, Co-Founder & COO, FreshSource
FreshSource was launched in January 2019, by sibling duo Omar and Farah Emara, and aims to streamline the value chain by working directly with small farmers, who grow high quality produce, but are unable to reach consumers directly. The company provides innovative solutions and aims to integrate the smallholder farmers into the modern value chain.
Egypt’s food loss can reach an average of 50%, due to poor storage and transportation. FreshSource aims to minimize food losses through the use of technology. Furthermore, through the partnership with Otlob, the company aims to provide a healthier lifestyle for people.
“We are happy that we are able to provide our customers with more options for healthy eating and we believe that FreshSource will be a great partner to provide high quality fresh fruits and vegetables.”
Ramy El Kerdany, Head of Acquisition, Otlob
