DP World and Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) have begun construction on a new SAR 900 million ($250 million) logistics park at Jeddah Islamic Port, featuring advanced storage and distribution facilities. This initiative aims to boost trade in Saudi Arabia and the wider region.

Spanning 415,000 square meters, the greenfield facility will include 185,000 square meters of warehousing space and a large multipurpose storage yard, making it the largest integrated logistics park in the Kingdom. It will accommodate over 390,000 pallet positions, facilitating efficient goods movement in and out of Jeddah.

Established in 2022 under a 30-year concession, Jeddah Logistics Park will be developed in two phases, with an expected opening in Q2 2025. The facility will feature a rooftop solar plant generating 20MW of renewable energy, enhancing its sustainability.

DP World and Mawani’s collaboration also includes managing the South Container Terminal under a separate 30-year concession signed in 2020. This terminal is undergoing a modernization project, set for completion in Q4 2024, which will increase its handling capacity to five million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). Together, these projects represent a combined investment of nearly SAR 4 billion ($1 billion).

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DP World, emphasized the significance of the Saudi market and the strategic importance of Jeddah Logistics Park on the Asia-Europe shipping route. He highlighted the investment as a step towards supporting Saudi Vision 2030 and DP World’s 25 years of operations in Jeddah.

Omar Bin Talal Hariri, President of Mawani, noted that the new logistics area will connect to DP World’s South Container Terminal, enhancing growth and container handling capabilities. This project aligns with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Vision 2030, aiming to expand logistics centers in Saudi ports in partnership with national and international companies.

Mohammad Alshaikh, DP World Country Head, KSA, provided project details at the groundbreaking event, which included the UAE Consul General to Jeddah and senior Saudi government representatives. Jeddah Logistics Park is set to optimize logistics for importers and exporters, offering an integrated trade and logistics platform in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
