Launched in 2010, Shahid is the first Middle Eastern video streaming service. Over the past ten years Shahid has bought and produced over 46,000 hours of Arabic content, valued at $1.3 billion. The platform will be revamped and its library will grow as a result of the strategic partnerships with Disney and Fox.

Shahid’s subscribers will have access to Disney’s animated classics as well as the popular Marvel movies. Disney and Fox’s backlog of films will be available on the platform with Arabic subtitles.

The most exciting part of the partnership is the investment that will be made towards original Arabic content targeted to viewers in the MENA region. MBC Group CEO, Marc Antoine d’Halluin, stated, “Over the next two years, we aim to substantially increase the size of our investment into drama productions, thus increasing them fourfold, of which the majority will be original and exclusive content.”

MBC Group has yet to reveal the details of its partnership with Spotify.
