OPay obtains preliminary approval from the Central Bank to issue prepaid cards

OPay Egypt, FinTech and e-payments solutions provider, obtained preliminary approval from the Central Bank of Egypt to issue prepaid cards through their OPay application, in cooperation with Masria Digital Payments.

“We are very pleased to cooperate with Masria Digital Payments to issue prepaid cards, as it provides more than one payment option, which will greatly contribute to continuing our endeavors to provide the best non-banking services to our customers through smooth and easy prepaid cards,” Mahmoud Khedr, Head of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships at OPay, said.

Khedr added that OPay’s approval comes in order to enhance financial inclusion operations, as well as to implement the plan of the National Payments Council, referring to the presidential initiative for economic reform and the resulting decisions and initiatives from the Central Bank.
