UAE-founded Revibe, a B2C marketplace specializing in refurbished electronics, has recently closed its Series A funding round, raising USD 7 million in a round co-led by ISAI and Resonance.

Key Investors and Market Growth

The funding round featured prominent investors such as Kima Ventures and Edouard Mendy. This follows a year of significant revenue growth, positioning Revibe as a key player in MENA’s USD 6 billion refurbished consumer electronics market.

The Refurbished and Used Mobile Phones Market was valued at USD 53.81 billion in 2022 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 10.8%, reaching USD 120.96 billion by 2030, according to Cognitive Market Research.

Market Drivers and Unique Value

Revibe Co-Founder Abdessamad Benzakour highlighted the factors driving their success:  “Buoyed by clear and commendable government visions and initiatives, an increasingly sustainability-oriented society, and cost-conscious consumerism, the market for pre-loved tech is set to accelerate to USD 20 billion within a decade.”

He added,  “While our ability to deliver like-new devices at 30% to 70% below their retail price points is undoubtedly appealing, it is our unmatched quality assurance that sets us apart, earning us a loyal and ever-expanding customer base.”

Product Expansion and Convenience

After securing USD2.3 million in seed funding last year, Revibe expanded its offerings beyond smartphones and laptops to include: Gaming devices, Accessories, Smartwatches

To enhance customer convenience, the company also launched dedicated iOS and Android apps for a streamlined purchasing experience.

  • Customer-Centric Approach
  • Revibe’s comprehensive services include:
  • A one-year warranty
  • Free shipping and returns
  • A 10-day return policy
  • 24/7 customer support powered by human-led and AI systems

This approach has driven the sale of over 80,000 refurbished devices in the past two years. As a result, the company has achieved: USD 14 million in savings for customers, reduction of 4 million kg of CO2 emissions, saving of 960 million litres of water.

Expanding into Emerging Markets

With its latest infusion of funds, Revibe plans to accelerate and consolidate its expansion into emerging markets while investing in its customer care and quality assurance teams.

Revibe Co-Founder Hamza Iraqui emphasized:  “Our revenue growth proves that we have a sound business model that addresses a clear market need in emerging markets.

“We are especially proud to stand as proof that a sustainability-focused enterprise can be a win-win endeavour, turning over positive unit economics while delivering compelling value to customers. These will continue to be the pillars of our strategy as we expand steadily across other geographies.”

Investor Perspectives

William Vermont, Principal at ISAI, commented: “We are thrilled to invest in the leading B2C marketplace for refurbished electronics in the region. This venture reflects our commitment to supporting innovative solutions that enhance accessibility and sustainability in consumer technology. We are happy to already witness significant growth of the company since our investment earlier this year – with healthy unit economics.”

Maxime Le Dantec, Partner at Resonance, added: “Revibe is one of the fastest-growing startups we’ve had the privilege to support through Resonance, and today we’re proud to double down on our investment.

“As the leading electronic refurbishment marketplace in the MENA region, Revibe is poised to expand its reach globally, with a bold ambition to become the #1 player in developing markets. They are tackling an impressive USD 30 billion market opportunity with remarkable execution.”
