HTC has launched its first “Viverse” phone, the HTC Desire 22 Pro, which comes preloaded with apps that let you access metaverse content, and offers a crypto wallet for Ethereum and Polygon-based assets and an NFT functionality.

The device works alongside HTC’s lightweight Vive Flow VR headset, with HDCP 2.2 connectivity enabling you to wirelessly mirror content to the VR headset, and a Vive Manager app that lets you set up and manage your VR hardware.

The smartphone “opens new immersive experiences as the perfect partner for VIVE Flow—whether it’s meeting colleagues in VR, or enjoying your own private cinema anywhere you are,” said Shen Ye, Global Head of Product at HTC, in a statement accompanying the announcement.

Sporting a 6.6-inch Gorilla Glass display with 1080 x 2412-pixel resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate, the processor is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G, which comes with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage. The device is also powered by a 4,520 mAh battery with fast charging and Qi wireless charging functionality.

This is not the first crypto phone that it has launched, the smartphone manufacturer has been an early adopter of the practice since 2018 when it introduced Exodus 1 smartphone with a built-in crypto hardware wallet and the ability to run a full Bitcoin node.
