Infinity-E, electric vehicle charging network provider, is in talks with the Egyptian government over plans to roll out 6,000 charging stations across the country.

Shams Al-Din Abdel Ghaffar, EV sector Managing Director at Infinity-E said that the company is negotiating with the Ministry of Public Enterprise Sector over the 450 million Egyptian pounds ($28.5 million) scheme, according to Daily News Egypt.

The goal is to establish 120 EV charging stations, amounting to 85 million Egyptian pounds, by next December, with a further 50 developed by next June.

Infinity-E is waiting for approval from the Electricity Utility and Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency to attain a license to sell electricity from its owned stations, Al Ghaffar explained.

This comes as the firm currently provides electricity for cars at no charge despite the fact that it purchases this electricity from the government for massive amounts.

Founded in 2018, Infinity-E has dedicated a total of 300 million Egyptian pounds to EV charging stations since its establishment. The startup hopes to establish 300+ charging locations across Egypt by 2023, they currently have 70 stations to date.
