Egypt to launch its monorail project during COP27

Egypt intends to start the trial operation for monorail trains from the maintenance workshop to El-Adala station in New Administrative Capital (NAC) in preparation for its launch in COP27 which will be held next month in Sharm El Sheikh according to the Ministry’s statement.

Minister of Transport followed up on the progress of stations extending from the Stadium station in Nasr City to El-Adala station in the NAC, with a length of 56.5 km and including 22 stations all over Cairo, Egypt.

The project is implemented through a consortium of companies Alstom, Orascom, and Arab Contractors led by the French company Alstom.

The minister also inspected and followed up on the implementation of civil, electromechanical, installation, testing works, columns, and beams at stations and along the monorail line.

The monorail is expected to have the capacity to transport nearly 45,000 passengers an hour in each direction at full capacity.
