The Central Bank of Egypt revealed that non-governmental bank deposits in local currency increased in May by about EGP 53.774 billion, to reach the level of 3.932 trillion pounds, compared to EGP 3.879 trillion in April.

Non-current deposits for “time and savings certificates” rose by 52.782 billion pounds last May, to reach EGP 3.381 trillion, compared to EGP 3.328 trillion in April 2021.

According to the data, family sector deposits represented 86% at the end of May of the total bank deposit balances in a local currency other than the government.

CBE explained that the balances of current and non-current public business sector deposits in local currency increased slightly last May to record from EGP 62.957 billion to EGP 66.842 billion the previous month.
