To mark the launch of the PS5 in the Middle East, Sony has lit up major regional landmarks in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. In the UAE, Sony lit up the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. During the light show, Sony projected the PlayStation 5 console and controller onto the building’s exterior as well as its square, triangle, ‘x’, and circle symbols.
In addition, in Saudi Arabia, Sony performed a similar light show at the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture in Dhahran. During the show, Sony projected the PS5 controller symbols onto the outside of the Ithra Tower.
Sony also hosted similar light shows in other major cities to mark the worldwide PS5 launch, including in New York City, Singapore and Paris. In London, Sony took its marketing campaign one step further by renaming certain tube stations. For example, Lancaster Gate was renamed to Ratchet and Clankaster Gate in reference to the popular video game series.
