Proton Trials Begins
Ezz Elsewedy Automotive Factories Company (ESAF) begins trials of its new car Proton Saga. The trials span distances up to 60,000 km as the company begins mass production, with an official release by mid-February.
In collaboration with the Malaysian automotive company Proton, ESAF locally manufactured the Proton Saga car in Egypt for the first time. They are expected to export the car to left-hand driving neighboring countries in Africa and the MENA region.
In an exclusive with WAYA, Bassem Ashmawy, Proton Egypt Managing Director, disclosed that the official retail price will be released around the launch time in mid-February. Currently, the imported Proton Saga sells at a retail price of EGP 750,000. Thus, the locally assembled car is expected to be priced lower in competition with the B and C sedan segments.
